Erasmus Mundus Scholarship talk in Malaysia --- About Giving Back

I'm always thinking that I'm the lucky one,
to have the chance to further study in Europe with full scholarship.
There are a lot of my friends and readers wondering and curious about the scholarship
My mind come with "It's time to give back!!"
I would say Erasmus Mundus (EM) Scholarship is a wonderful scholarship which fulfill my Europe study dream.
I'm very glad that I'm being selected as a scholar.
Therefore, I always willing to share my experience about this scholarship and the EM program if anyone asking me about it.
I would love to see more Malaysian students having the chance to pursue their study in Europe.

I never ever thought that I will come back to my University as an organizer of this scholarship talk.
With very limited time of publicity, there were still 80-90 attendees coming for the talk.
I'm quite surprise and happy, in fact before the talk I'm so scare that nobody will come for the talk, then it will be embarrassing.

Thanks you to IPS, UM for supporting and helping for the event.
Thanks you to all attendees who come to the talk, hopefully they learn something after the talk.
Thanks you for my friend and family who support me always.
Even I don't get any benefits on organizing this talk, I'm happy that the event went on successfully.
Because it's time to give back...
I'm happy to have the chance to give back.

Season of Graduation~~

It's October, and It's the season of graduation in my University.
Time flies, I already graduated 1 year ago.
Before graduate, I didn't even think what I'm going to do in the future...
At that time, I didn't even think my life will be like now, further study~~

I'm very appreciate all my friends who came to my convocation last year..
and many of my friends graduated this few day...
In fact, I'm thinking how to make surprise to my friends who graduated
I'm happy that most people like the card I made
That the idea I already planned since few month ago...
Happy graduation!!!

Anyway, when I looked through some of my friends convo photo,
I have some regret about my own convocation

1. I didn't being throw up high to sky~~
I really want but my body don't allow me to do... Yes, it's sad

2. Didn't have a full family photo with academic attire
It's too rush, I didn't even meet my brother when I went back that time...
Damn regret!!! Therefore, I decided no matter where I'm, take leave or what,  I will attend my brother and sister convocation for sure!!!

3. Didn't take more photo around campus.
It's again too rush...( why I don't have more time to do all this thing, haizz)
I didn't have photo with academic attire in my faculty, department, my kolej, KPS,entrance of university,Tasik varsiti....etc...
Damn sad....

I told myself, THAT LIFE~... You gain something, you lose something in same time...

As you grow older, you'll find the only things you regret are the things you didn't do.--Zachary Scott

I think most of UM community don't know the presence of Art Gallery in the campus,
As it's going to be next tourist spot in campus, before I graduate from the university,
I spent some time to visit this newest spot in campus- University of Malaya Art Gallery (UMAG)

It's located at 5th floor of Chancellor Building

Initiated in 2011, UM Art Gallery is a cultural legacy envisioned to be an icon of University Malaya through the study, preservation, conservation, exhibition, interpretation and development of its collections and also the exhibition of works by local and international artist, supported by creative learning activities aimed at diverse audiences across ages from the uninitiated to the expert.

There are having season exhibition with some theme, and when I visited, the theme is about Canting , Ismail Mat Hussin.

The drawing is mainly related to theme, with full of batik style.

Some items used for canting...

Various pattern of Batik clothes

Besides season exhibition, there are some permanent art exhibition. The drawing below is by Datuk Chuah Thean Teng.

Some painting is close and need permission to see it closer.

I like this painting....It's colourful and I can feel the happiness in this paint.

This woman's eye is too big lol.....Malaysia version of Mona Lisa....hahahah!!!!( huge different lol....)

I think this place can be used to discuss with friends after finish visiting art gallery. Nice environment....

Food Composting Centre in my University

* It's a long overdue post....sorry for dragging so long time to complete this post...haizzz...:(

In conjunction on Earth Week in my University, which is organised by UMcares and Soka Gakkai Malaysia,
I have a chance to visit Food Composting Centre in my university.
This centre just started 1 year ago, by a group of people with passion to make the changes
They are master students majoring environmental engineering, besides doing their research project, they try to set up composting centre in campus area in small scale.

They start by collecting food waste from campus hostel cafe.
They need to do a well separation as only food waste can be used for making fertilizer
Food waste will mix with some dry leaves and some bacteria( if not wrong, it's use to make the decomposition process faster, I forgot the name of bacteria used...lolz...) and make it into group like the photo below..
Temperature of each group is controlled, I'm surprise that it's high( can't remember the reading...:(

The ready make organic fertilizer by using food waste...( wait for grading and packaging...)

The fertilizers will divide according to 4 grade, based on it's quality...
Their fertilizer really have it's effective like normal chemical fertilizer. So do support their food waste fertilizer. Price is negotiable....

The machine used to grind the mix waste...

As financial constrain, the facilities of whole composting centre is simple, without advanced technology. Or else, the fertilizer can produce commercially and in large scale.
but the whole idea is creative and green, I really feel their passion of 2 master student who initiate this project in university.
Their project need more publicity...
Hopefully this project can run smooth and successful with more support from university.
Best wish to this project!!

* The location of Food Composting Centre is next to Damansara gate of University Malaya.

Trip to Pulau Besar, Malacca

This island is not as famous as Pulau redang, Pulau Tioman,
This island is not as beautiful as Pulau redang, Pulau Tioman
I don't know this "pulau" before going...
I'm following my collegemates ( around 30 peoples ) to this trip...

Pulau Besar ( "Big" Island ) locate within Malacca, is a small island, not as big as it's name,

Blue sky with sea. It's still a good place to have a holiday although it's not that famous tourism spot in Malaysia.

The ferry price for an adult is RM14 ( 2 ways)

We are ready for the trip, Yeah!!!!!

The bungalow that we stay, It's can live up to 20 peoples...

Kitchen....( I strongly recommend to bring own ingredient for cook, as the food provided by resort is not that nice....)

Living room!!! with Astro...

Great island?? You will know it if you come and experience yourself....ermm..ermm
Pulau Besar is a good place for jungle trekking, suitable place for mild fitness practice( not harsh at all) ...

Here is the famous spot of the whole island --"Batu Belah"
At the highest point on the island exist a large boulder that is split down the middle. It is named "Batu Belah" and is a favourite destination for local pilgrims. There also exists a cave which is said to be the place of meditation for another Wali named Yusof. Near this cave, it is claimed one can see the footprint of the Wali on a boulder. In 1997 the Malaysian government labeled such practices as deviant and tore down many buildings that were erected around the mausoleum. This caused an uproar in the Indian Muslim communities which frequented Pulau Besar.

You can see many 4-digit number wrote on the "batu" , as they believe this is a holy rock and it can give them good luck....

dull lake .... no birds, no fishes

Golf field  (but didn't see anybody playing golf there...)

Yeah!!!! We love trip!!!!
Have some "black" sand, don't know is it naturally occur or ........
At night, we wrote our wishes on lantern.... I wrote mine too, but....My latern failed to rise up....Sad!!!

It's seem easy to rise the lantern, but after try, I know I'm wrong, It's need some skills instead...hahahaha!!!
This island still not fully develop, therefore It's not as famous as other island in Malaysia..Less travel spot, less outdoor activities make us feel quite boring if stay long in this island.
However, It's still a nice place to relieve our burden we had in our studying or working. A trip sure will be fun if we go with our friends and family....So no matter what place we go, the most important is the time we spend together..

That all for 2 days 1 night trip at Pulau Besar...
