Anyway, I just realized that I haven't mention about the city I live in Italy in my blog.
Genoa ( in Italian : Genova), historical port city in northern Italy.
Not as famous like Milan, Rome or Venice, but definitely is a nice city to stay and travel....
There are so many famous food that is originate from Italy, and of course origin from Genoa.
Thanks to my lecturers and some local Genoa people, I had tried some local Genovese food.
Here gonna introduce some Genovese food.
1. Farinata Typical food in Ligurian sea coast, unleavened pancake which mainly made of chickpea flour Taste of farinata-- oily, salty...
It is worth to try this food, which is quite unique as a street food .
Farinata sold in stall opposite of Port Antico, Genoa,Italy.
2. Panisette
This snack use chickpea flour too, with some pepper, salt, water.
The special about this snack is it's look exactly like french fries.
However, when you taste it, it's totally different, a bit taste of seafood...( I suspect maybe the stall I tried panisette, selling fried seafood too, maybe the taste a bit mix, I will try again to confirm the taste...)
3. Cuculli
The ingredient used for Cuculli is almost similar like panisette and Farinata. The only special ingredient added is yeast and a herb calledmaggiorana Anyway, the shape and overall look made me think of Jemput pisang ( a popular street food/ dessert, mashed banana fritters in Malaysia)
The main ingredient of 3 Genovese food above use chickpea flour ( ceci in Italian )
Ceci is popular bean used in Liguria region for cooking. Flavor of ceci depend on the way it's used. Anyway, taste is smooth and pleasant. When I searched more information about this kind of flour, there are benefits to our health, "Very high in protein, iron ; good for stabilizing blood sugar, preventing digestive disorders, lowering your LDL cholesterol and lower the risk for heart attack. "
4. Focaccia It's a type of bread, very popular in whole Italy. It is typically rolled out or pressed by hand into a thick layer of dough and then baked in a stone-bottom or hearth oven. The unique about this bread is the dotting on the top of bread. This creates multiple wells in the bread to poke the unbaked dough. As a way to preserve moisture in the bread, olive oil is then spread over the dough. Therefore, the bread is sometime oily, especially if keep it for few days...( The best is to eat it fresh)
I like fococcia.... even the taste is plain.

I remember when I still small, when I listened the sound of motorbike from home, I know the postman is coming. ( Ok, I know the sound of motorbike is not always a postman, but I have this thought when I'm still an innocent kids. )
In Italy, yellow represents the Poste Italiane. ( anyway, the postbox colour is still typical red)
Anyway, the interesting part is this.... the vehicle use by postman (or postwoman)
ahaha, it's small electric car....
Anyway, I curious about it and check about the information about this electric car.
It can travel up to 50km, with "zero emission" while delivery of mail.
This environmentally friendly car model has it's name "Free Duck Ducati Energia"
There have hybrid version too, which can travel longer distance up to 200km...
Anyway, I like the idea of reducing emission of carbon dioxide.
Hmm, Yes, I wrote 2 blog posts before about Malaysia foods.
I had introduced 18 Malaysia foods that I miss the most.
Recently, my Italian language teacher gave us a task, to cook your country food, and wrote the recipe in Italian ....
It's a difficult task for me, as I'm not a good cooker ( but I'm a good eater !! haha ~~)

Which Malaysia food you will introduce to foreigners?
In my opinion, I think about Nasi Lemak ( Coconut milk rice ).
Seriously, I miss Nasi Lemak a lot...
It's the typical breakfast for Malaysian, ( It can be served as lunch or dinner too)
I remember once I told foreigners that Nasi Lemak is for breakfast, they are surprise!!
WHAT!? such a heavy, big breakfast ?! ( of course for breakfast, the portion will be smaller if compare to Nasi Lemak served as lunch or dinner)

I read an article, about how much would you pay for a taste of home,
They compared the price of Nasi Lemak all around the world.
In Malaysia, you can get Nasi Lemak as low as RM1.20, up to RM5.00 ( depend on the side dish you choose)
However, outside of Malaysia, the price of a plate of Nasi Lemak is few times multiple than the price in Malaysia.
In fact, I believe in Europe, beside UK, it's hardly to find restaurant serve good Nasi Lemak in other cities.
I ate Nasi Lemak in Scotland before, the price is really around 7- 8 Pounds .
It's expensive, but in the same time, I agree that taste of home is priceless.
Anyway, I gonna learn how to cook Nasi Lemak, as I plan to introduce this dish to foreigner.
( but I can't find anchovies, pandan leaf in Italy, plus I don't know how to make a good sambal sauce.... Hmm.... I guess the Nasi Lemak I cook will be a brand new version..)
There are many nice places in Italy, in fact, many tourist attraction spots.
I went for few cities in Italy. Venice is definitely my favorite.
It's is one of my dream place to go ( Sometime,I though I might go to Macau first in my life to experience eastern Venice before experience the REAL VENICE)
Yes, I'm lucky, able to see the beauty of Venice in Italy.
The REAL VENICE ( why I need to emphasis REAL? because there are too many fake, imitate Venice all around the world)
Venice is a must to visit if you come to Italy.
A place where you will lost even with your map,
A place where you will keep on crossing a bridge
A place where you can't find any pollution coming from road vehicle (In historical centre, only form of transport is on water or on foot )
A place where you will find most people are tourists instead of local people.
I wish I can go again.... in fact, the time I stayed in Venice is too short....
Venice is also a place for couple, as I saw many couple came here, taking Gondola...
Gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat. The gondola is propelled by a person (the gondolier) who stands facing the bow and rows with a forward stroke, followed by a compensating backward stroke. As we saw in some travel documentary or video, the gondolier will sing Italian song, and some people may drink wine while in Gondola, enjoy the wonderful scenery of Venice.
Anyway, It's fucking expensive to have a gondola ride. Really really expensive...
A ride around 15-20 minutes, it's cost 100 euro (RM440.00 !!!) .
We met a good gondolier, who let us share the ride with 6 people ( the maximum a Gondola can take)
He even told us some story about Venice. He is funny, as you can see his look on the photo...
(Haha, he is very professional to pose and let us took photo)
The price for gondola ride is keep on increasing every year. ( LOL, gondola ride is worth to try it once, it's enough, haha!!! )
Anyway, still a very nice experience of gondola ride. Satisfied :)
There are many thing in Venice that you may need to have some time to discover.
It's definitely worth to stay in Venice around 3 - 4 days .

Many awesome experiences I had in Italy in this 2 months living here.
Beside attending classes in weekday, I had my own free time to do the thing I love, read a book, watch a movie.
Today, I would like to share about stamp in Italy.
Since I came to Europe last September, I have habit to send some postcards back to Malaysia.
Personally I didn't have the hobby of collecting postcard of different places.
I'm quite surprise of the joy and satisfaction I had for sending postcard, especially when your friend told you that they received the card in Malaysia. Can you imagine the card fly from Europe, long long way to Malaysia.
There are a lot funny stories I heard; I had sent a postcard which until today, still haven't reach Malaysia.
Some postcards reached in 10 days; some need more than 3 months to reach. ( I suspects some postcard take flight, some take ship, some take boat..... ahaha!! LOL~ )
Even I didn't send a single postcard back to my own home, I'm still happy to buy postcards in a new place I visited, buy a stamp and send to my friends who had made collection of postcard all over the world.
Some countries have a very beautiful , well design stamp; some countries have simple, but significant stamp.
So, here come to stamp in Italy.... It look like~~~

Ermm, in my opinion, it's a very simple design than I thought..
and the most important thing is
EXPENSIVE!!!
It's the most expensive postcard postage fee I ever paid, even more expensive than Norway, UK. (average postage fee is about 0.80-1.20 Euro per postcard )
WTF~~ to send back to Malaysia ( in standard fee) , it's cost 2.00 EURO( RM 8.50) per postcard!!!!
I would like to see how fast, how efficient the card will reach ....(It's still on the way)
Anyway, I just have budget to send one postcard from Italy.
Forgive me if you don't receive my postcard from Italy.
I promise I will send postcard in other places of Europe beside Italy in the future.....
I decided to make a series of blogpost about funny,ridiculous stories in Italy.
In fact, sometime, because of my stupidity and blur, many funny stories created by myself.
So, for the 1st post, I would like to share about my Italian Language class.
For those who know me well, I'm not talent in learning language.
So, I still can't speak or understand much of French and Polish, even I went to class for a semester.
and now, new semester in Italy, I need to learn another new language- Italian.
2 classes a week, each class last 1.5hours
So, in evaluation test on my 1st Italian class, I just guess all the answer...
circling without any grammar knowledge in Italian.
( well prepare to go to Level 1 Italian beginner class)
I'm so surprise when my Italian teacher tell me that I did this evaluation test with above 50% correct answer, which persuade me to Level 2 Italian Class...
WTF, LEVEL 2!?!!?
Is it mean Italian grammar test is easy to guess the answer and get it correct?? or am I too smart on Italian??
Anyway, It's about a month I attended the Level 2 Italian class. So far, still can catch up...
Pronunciation is not so hard like French and Polish, but Italian grammar is quite complicate...
and also vocabulary, which is hard for me to memorise so many new word in a short time.
Lesson learnt : Next time just leave it blank if don't know the answer.... ==!!

10. Durian
King of the fruits, with strong odour, thorn-covered green husk, and yellow flesh.
It's a seasonal fruit, which can only grow in tropical weather.
Their unique odour which create 2 reactions of people, either love it or hate it.
For me, I love it so much~~~
everything involve durian will be my favourite, such as durian crepe, durian ice cream, durian pancake, durian dodol...etc
I found the selling of fresh durian in Paris, which the price is surprisingly high ( around 40euro per kg = RM177.00 )

11.Chee Chiong Fan ( Rice noodle roll )
I'm so get used to call this dish in chinese dialect, so I just know it's english name after google...
I'm surprise to know that it's Cantonese dish. It is thin roll made from a wide strip of rice noodle, with some sauce and ingredient.
I love to eat this with sweet sauce and sesame, sometime with yam.
It's my favourite breakfast. I remember sometime my mum will buy this from morning market on weekend, which is a motivation for me to wake up early on weekend when I still a child.

12. Satay a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilledmeat, served with a sauce.These are grilled or barbecued over a wood or charcoal fire, then served with various spicy seasonings. It's origin from Indonesia ( surprise to know!! ), however, almost all celebration events in Malaysia, satay will be served. It is popular in Malaysia. Usually, satay will eat with Onion, cucumber and sweet spicy peanut sauce.

13. Roti Canai
I remember during my university time, when I don't know what to eat for breakfast or dinner, and with limit budget, i will choose roti canai.
Somebody think that it's oily and not healthy to have more. For me, I like it so much, but I will not eat too much, 2 pieces will make me full for a meal. The dish is composed of dough containing copious amounts of fat, flour and water. Commonly found in Mamak stall in Malaysia. and I always choose the roti canai stall that the chef can twirl it until the dough becomes a very thin sheet and then folded into a circular shape. That a technique which is not so easy to learn.
Anyway, roti canai is an Indian fusion dish, with many flavor varieties. Personally, I love Roti Pisang and Roti Telur!!( which the banana and egg will cover inside the dough)
Roti canai should eat with good curry sauce, which is a key point to decide whether it taste good or not. ( Some people who don't like spicy, usually will eat with sugar, which I not so prefer)
14. Chao Kuey Tiaw
It my favourite noodle, I don't know why I miss out this dish in Part 1.
In fact, it is quite hard to find this noodle in Europe; so even you know how to cook, it's sad that you will not find a good ingredient. It is made from flat rice noodlesof approximately 1 cm,stir-fried with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, belachan, whole prawns,bean sprouts and chopped Chinese chives,vegetable and egg. Most well known, best Chao Kuey Tiaw in Malaysia is at Penang ( north of Malaysia), which is a must-eat dish if you have a chance to come to Penang.

15. Keropok Lekor A traditional fish snack for the Malay people inMalaysia. It is usually made bygrinding fish into a paste, mixing with sago and then deep-frying it. They are some variety, most common is lekor which is long and chewy, and keping which is thin and crispy. It is frequently served with chilli dipping sauces. It's my favourite dessert or snack for teatime. I ate it when I'm in my primary school, secondary school, matriculation until University; I still love to eat keropok lekor. " Nak RM1 keropok lekor, bungkus, bagi chili~~ Terima kasih" ( English translation : Give me RM1 keropok lekor, take away and with chili, thank you) Oh I miss it so much ~~~
16. Kaya ( Coconut Jam)
Again, I don't know it's english translation is coconut jam, which is damn weird.
In Europe, most people use Nutella as bread spread; In Malaysia, most people use Kaya.
Beside used as bread spread, it is also an important ingrediant in many traditional dessert among Malay community.
Composition of Kaya consist of coconut, eggs, sugar and pandan leaf.
Anyway, my mum and aunt know how to make this jam, which in my heart, it is the best taste ever than those commercial package of Kaya. Homemade is the best!!!
17.Rojak Traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish. "Rojak" is a Malay word, which mean "mixing" Usually it's consist fried dough fritters, bean curds, boiled potatoes, prawn fritters, hard boiled eggs, bean sprouts, cuttlefish and cucumber mixed with a sweet thick, spicy peanut sauce. The ingredients are always cut into bite-sized portions. Not all rojak I will like it, some rojak putting too much of sauce, which make the whole dish like a soup. In my hometown ( Johor Bahru), there is a stall with good rojak.
18. Fried carrot cake Their smell is always attract you so much, to stopby and buy it, commonly found it in some restaurant or night market in Malaysia. It is stir-fried cubes of radish cake (steamed rice flour, water, and shredded white radish) , with egg and some seasoning . It can be a proper meal, can be a dessert.

Ok, as from title of this post, you may wonder what is ISES?? ISES is International Student Energy Summit, which empowering the next generation of energy leaders that will support the global transition towards a sustainable energy future. It is a three-day event that uses a multidisciplinary framework to educate, inspire and unite students around energy issues. This is 3rd ISES, held at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)Trondheim, Norway. I'm glad to join this summit, even my study is not directly relate to sustainable/ green/renewable energy. In fact, I gained some knowledge about current global energy issues, increase my conscious about this issues. I met a lot of new friends from all over the world, who have a passion on discussing this issues. Climate change, global warming, depletion, renewable energy, nuclear energy, Arctic drilling, carbon footprint, innovation, sustainable future....etc, and it's discussed in the point of view in political , economic, research,media,investor area....etc. It's interesting~~

Opening ceremony at Studentersamfundet. It's a location for Norwegian Student to have their society activities, and good meeting point for student. Opening ceremony is simple, marking the starting of summit, and networking section for all delagates. There are some performance by Norwegian singer and with some wine and food.
Most significant building in Trondheim. We had a chance to listen Organ Concert in this prestige cathedral for free!!!!

Speakers invited are expert from various fields, and also from different countries, continents.
It's interesting when some speakers have different views, and they bring out to discuss on stage.
Pigeonhole live is used in most plenary session for Q&A session, which have their pros and cons.
I tried to ask question through Pigeonhole, but not selected to be answer by speaker. (Only question with most vote will get attention and display to screen.)
However, I like this way of Q&A session, as you ask question at anytime, even during talk of speaker. It's good invention.

Gala Dinner on the last night of Summit.
My 1st impression about Norway is SALMON!!!!! In fact, most meals in this summit are mostly relate to Salmon, breakfast with smoked salmon, Lunch with Salmon Sandwich, and in this gala dinner- SALMON!!!
It's a must to try salmon when you come to Norway.

Trondheim is not so well known like Oslo, but the view in Trondheim is fantastic and breathtaking ~~ I like Trondheim more than Oslo.
and because of the time I went to Trondheim is summer( but still very cold), The sky didn't turn dark at all... It's my 1st time in my life to see the sky almost bright for 24 hours. The local student told me that some day of their winter will be 24hours dark.

It's a nice experience to join this summit. I'm glad to join with my another 2 classmates. It's inspiring me a lot. (ahaha, 1st time in my life stay whole night in airport..T-T. LOL)
